Rock City Hotel: a resort escape on the Kwahu escarpment

Rock City Hotel sits on the Nkwatia Mountains above the Kwahu Plateau in Ghana’s Eastern Region, a short drive from Mpraeso. The property, which markets itself as "the ultimate destination", combines a resort hotel with a wider residential estate of red-roofed apartment blocks on the same hillside.

The centrepiece is a pair of outdoor pools, one lined with private cabanas and pergolas, overlooked by a rooftop deck with lounge chairs and umbrella seating. Rooms mix contemporary and warmer, more traditional finishes, and upper floors take in views across the escarpment and forest below.

Kwahu is best known beyond Ghana for the Easter paragliding festival held on the plateau each year, when the hills around Nkwatia and Atibie fill with visitors. Rock City’s elevated position makes it one of the more convenient bases for that week.
